Year 6 Canberra Camp - A Week to Remember

Principals Pen Thursday, 11 Sept 2025

Last week, our Year 6 students enjoyed an incredible five-day adventure to Canberra.

This interstate experience gave students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Australian democracy, history and culture through hands-on learning at some of our nation’s most significant sites. Highlights included visits to Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial, Questacon, and the National Museum of Australia - experiences that brought classroom learning to life in unforgettable ways.

Beyond the curriculum, students also grew in independence, resilience and teamwork. Spending four nights away from home encouraged them to take responsibility for themselves, work together with peers and build friendships that will last well beyond their primary school years.

We are especially grateful for the amazing team of staff who gave so generously of their time and energy to make this experience possible. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Nadine Gill, Mrs Tammy Watson, Mr Steven Costin, Mrs Emma Jensen, Mrs Kellie Bowden, Ms Melissa Tronc, Mr Tim Gregory and Mrs Emily Doyle for their care, leadership and support throughout the journey. Their dedication ensured that every child was safe, supported and able to fully embrace this unique learning opportunity.

The group returned safely to Brisbane at 8.30pm last Thursday night, tired but filled with wonderful memories. We are so proud of our Year 6 students and grateful for the staff who made Canberra Camp 2025 such a success.

Peace
