School Values Focus

Learning Landscape Tuesday, 23 Apr 2024

Last term the students did a wonderful job of upholding our school values whilst having a specific focus on the school value of Respect. As we move into Term 2, we will move our focus to the school values of Responsibility and Doing Your Best.

Living Faith Values Doing Your Best

Students will demonstrate responsibility throughout the term by:

● Being in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing;
● Taking care of their belongings and school resources;
● Keeping their hands and feet to themselves; and
● Being a good friend and including others.

They will also demonstrate a growth mindset which enables them to always do their best. We recognise that each child is unique and has their own gifts and talents. Some students find certain tasks easy whilst others find them difficult. Students are encouraged to try tasks they find challenging and persist even when things get hard. We want students to know that mistakes are okay and that it is often through these mistakes that we learn.

To support students in their learning and development of our school values, Brainstorm Productions will be presenting a theatrical presentation on Friday, 3 May to all students in Kindy to Year 6 in the Sports Centre titled ‘Being Brave’. As we know, when children experience change, bullying, loss and other stressful life events, it can have a huge impact on their behaviour and wellbeing. They may worry about themselves, their families and the world.

Being Brave is a live show that gives students positive strategies to cope with emotions and adapt to change at school, at home and online. The live theatre performance engages students in a number of different stories to help them discover the true meaning of being brave: sharing stories, showing feelings, keeping good memories and living life.

It is hoped that the ‘Being Brave’ production will help to empower children to seek help and face life’s challenges with confidence and compassion.

The production will run over three sessions:

● Kindy to Year 1: 9.30am - 10.30am
● Years 2 and 3: 11.45am - 12.45pm
● Years 4 to 6: 1.50pm - 2.50pm

Parents and carers are also invited to attend this production if they would like to hear the stories and key messages shared with students.
