Living Faith Secondary Expansion FAQ

Principals Pen Wednesday, 11 Feb 2026

Last week, the school shared the exciting news that the Lutheran Church of Australia - Queensland District (LCAQD) has formally endorsed Living Faith’s proposal to expand into secondary education, commencing with Year 7 in 2027.

This endorsement represents a significant milestone in the life of our school and reflects strong confidence in both our vision and future direction.

This step affirms our mission to be Growing God’s grace … Illuminating minds, Inspiring hearts, Igniting service… built on Christ’s love. Expanding into secondary education will enable us to continue nurturing and supporting young people beyond the primary years, guiding their growth in faith, learning and service as they mature into young adults.

We recognise that families may have questions about what this means for their children and for our community. To support clear communication, we have prepared this FAQ to outline where we are in the process, key milestones ahead and what you can expect in the coming months.

Thank you for your continued support as we work towards establishing a secondary school that faithfully reflects our shared values and vision for the future.

Q: Now that the LCAQD has endorsed Living Faith’s secondary proposal, what other elements of the expansion does the school need to complete before the school opens with Year 7 in 2027?

A: The endorsement from the LCAQD represents the most significant milestone in the school’s expansion process. With this endorsement now secured, the proposal will progress to the Non-State Schools Accreditation Board (NSSAB) as part of the formal approval pathway. The school will formally submit its application to NSSAB by the end of February.

Q: When is Living Faith expected to be open for secondary education? When can we enrol our children?

A: Living Faith will commence secondary schooling with Year 7 in 2027 and will expand by one cohort each year. This will see the first of our Year 12s graduating in 2032.

The School will be asking families to complete Expressions of Interest by Wednesday, 25 February 2026 and anticipates taking formal enrolments from March this year.

Q: What are the prospective student tuition fees for secondary schooling at Living Faith?

A: Prospective tuition fees for secondary schooling at Living Faith will reflect the increased costs typically associated with secondary education when compared to primary schooling. At the same time, the school is committed to setting fees that remain competitive within our local catchment area.

Year 7 tuition fees for 2027 will be determined at the upcoming School Council meeting in February, with the approved fee structure to be shared with families in early March.

Q. What if I have already paid an enrolment fee/bond with another secondary school? Will I be compensated for this money?

A:If you have paid an enrolment bond or fee to secure a place for your child at another secondary school, the school is pleased to offer reassurance. Should you choose to proceed with your child’s enrolment in Year 7 at Living Faith, the school will credit the exact amount of that bond or fee toward your child’s 2027 Year 7 tuition fees, upon presentation of a receipt from the other school. * Please note that Living Faith will only credit enrolment fees/bonds that families have paid prior to 10 February 2026.

Q. If I am a current Living Faith family, do I need to complete a separate enrolment form for Year 7? Will I be able to complete an Expression of Interest for secondary schooling at Living Faith?

A: No, current families will not be required to complete a new enrolment form for Year 7. New enrolment forms will only apply to families and students who are new to Living Faith. However, current families will have the opportunity for a secondary interview in the six months prior to their child starting in Year 7.

Families with children currently in Years 5 or 6 will be asked to indicate their intended choice of secondary school. Year 7 enrolments will open in March, and at that time, current families will be invited to formally confirm their intentions. We are also asking families to complete an Expression of Interest by Wednesday, 25 February 2026 to help the school with future planning.

Q. What facilities will be provided for the Year 7 students in 2027?

A: Due to a longer-than-expected decision-making timeframe from LCAQD, the school will not have sufficient time to construct the planned Year 7 facilities outlined in our masterplan before the commencement of Year 7 on Wednesday, 27 January 2027.

As an interim solution, the school has purchased three high-quality modular buildings. These will be constructed off-site and installed on campus by November this year. While these are not traditional ‘bricks and mortar’ buildings, they provide excellent and agile learning environments and will be used by our inaugural Year 7 cohort in 2027. From 2028 onwards, these spaces will transition into highly valued specialist facilities.

The addition of modular buildings has been part of long-term School Council planning, ensuring we continue to resource our outstanding specialist programs to a high standard. Further information about this exciting new facility will be shared with the school community in the coming months.

Q: When will construction of the Secondary Facilities and Masterplan commence? Will a significant and exciting Masterplan mean a dramatic rise in future tuition fees for families?

A: The school is working towards construction of Stage 1 to begin no later than January 2027 so that the first stage of our facilities are completed and ready for our Year 7 and 8 students on the first day of school in 2028. The School has been working with the Block Grant Authority (BGA) for nearly 12 months now and we are hoping and praying that the school will receive significant funding during Stages 1 and 2 of our building program. This anticipated funding is critical, as it will help offset construction costs and assist the School Council, which sets tuition fees, to continue its strong commitment to keeping fees affordable and appropriate for families within our community.

Q: Where will the secondary buildings be located and what facilities can we expect?

A: Our current school site spans eight hectares of land, providing ample space for expansion. The secondary facilities have been nicknamed ‘The Tree Tops Project’ by the master planning committee who have a bold vision and are intent on creating modern, inspiring learning environments. We have engaged Bickerton Masters Architecture to develop a comprehensive Masterplan for the school, ensuring that new facilities blend seamlessly with our existing campus while maximizing natural surroundings.

New facilities will be constructed between the current Years 4, 5 and 6 classrooms and Black Duck Creek - offering a wonderful natural outlook for the students. Importantly, this development plan ensures there will be no loss of oval or nature play spaces. The design will incorporate multi storey buildings, maximizing space efficiency while maintaining the school's commitment to providing agile, contemporary learning environments.

Q: Has consideration been given to car parking?

A: Yes. Unlike state schools, independent schools are required to provide on-site parking for families. Living Faith already exceeds the mandated number of parking spaces per student; however, we acknowledge and understand ongoing concerns about parking availability and traffic flow, particularly at peak times.

As planning for expansion into secondary education continues, careful consideration is being given to a range of options to further support the parking and traffic needs of our community. Ensuring adequate parking, along with safe and efficient drop-off and pick-up procedures, remains a key priority in all future development planning.

A particular focus is reducing the queuing that occurs during afternoon pick-up. To address this, the school intends to introduce changes by next year that will help improve traffic flow and significantly reduce end-of-day congestion.

Q: What are the school’s plans in regards to leadership staffing in secondary?

A: In 2026, the school introduced a new Educational Leadership Structure, carefully designed to support future secondary expansion. This structure includes the introduction of three new leadership roles: Head of Faith and Formation, Mark Hauser; Head of Learning and Innovation, Alana Reville; and Deputy Principal of Primary, Melissa Tronc. Mark and Alana each bring more than 20 years of experience working in Prep to Year 12 college settings at Pacific Lutheran College, Meridian Plains and St Paul’s Anglican School, Bald Hills.

As part of this model, the school will soon commence recruitment for a Deputy Principal of Secondary, further strengthening leadership capacity. This Educational Leadership Structure ensures the school is well positioned to provide the strong, experienced leadership required to effectively expand into a K-12 College in the coming years. The school also anticipates employing other key secondary teaching staff in advance, ensuring the design and delivery of an exceptional, contemporary curriculum tailored to the needs of future secondary students.

Q: What subjects and pathways will be offered in secondary at Living Faith?

A: Our intention is to provide a rigorous and high-quality secondary curriculum aligned with our ‘one school’ vision, which upholds our contemporary philosophy for learning, vision and values. Living Faith’s vision to expand into K-12 education is to offer robust university and industry pathways for our graduating students.

In addition to a highly engaging academic program, we are committed to fostering strong community partnerships to provide students with real-world experience. This includes expanding sporting opportunities, implementing Project-Based Learning and Service-Learning on a larger scale and offering elective Bespoke courses designed to maximize student engagement. These initiatives will not only enrich educational experiences but also prepare our students for success in their future endeavours.

Q: Will Living Faith’s expansion into secondary education maintain the same educational philosophy as our primary school?

A: Yes, absolutely. Living Faith’s expansion into secondary education will uphold the same values, vision and contemporary approach to education that define our primary school. Our ‘one school’ vision ensures continuity and cohesion across all levels of education, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning community for all our students.

The overarching educational vision for secondary education at Living Faith is to create a ‘place’ that will support and foster the following 12 key attributes:

● ONE SCHOOL Culture: The new facilities will unify primary and secondary under a shared culture, maintaining continuity in philosophy, pedagogy and community.
