Let the Adventure Begin

Principals Pen Friday, 22 May 2020

God made today. Today is an incredibly precious gift that we can open with enthusiasm and optimism. Let’s not waste a moment!

Our role today is simple: to enter with open hearts and thanksgiving. What lies before us is unknown under our human condition, but we do know that God has already prepared the way. He accompanies us into today with goodness and love. Let the adventure begin!

We can expect today will be filled with abundant blessings. After all, it has been authored by our Almighty God. We can also expect to face some challenges. Jesus makes it clear that we will encounter troubles and so, to expect an effortless ride would be foolish. But we enter today with boldness and courage, resting in the knowledge that God equips us for every circumstance. After all, he knows our limits and supplies accordingly.

Psalm 118, verse 24 reads: ‘This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.’

From the radiance of sunrise to the colours of sunset, we have much to be thankful for. No matter your circumstances, open your eyes to God’s provision for you today. As the day draws to a close, reflect and ask yourself: What beauty did I see in creation? Who supported me physically, mentally or emotionally? What did I accomplish today that could not possibly have been achieved through my own strength alone? How did God use me to help a peer or a stranger? What am I thankful for today? We can show our gratitude for everything today holds by engaging in honest and vulnerable dialogue with God: Maker of Heaven and Earth, thank you for the beauty of today. Thank you for presenting me with troubles that help me to grow in a closer relationship with you. Just as you equip me for today, fill me with peace, knowing you will equip me for tomorrow, so that tonight my mind will be freed to enjoy a refreshing sleep. Amen.
