Exhibition Evening

Learning Landscape Wednesday, 15 June 2022

There is much more to an Exhibition Evening than just a visit to classrooms and a chance to view student work. Parents and carers play a very important, active and fundamental role, as you share in the learning experiences of our school community.

What is the Exhibition Evening?

Exhibition Evening is a community showcase focusing on displaying students' project-based learning (PBL) journey. Students have attempted to solve real-world problems by researching, prototyping, experimenting, designing, culminating in the creation of a product. These products will be on display on the night.

Our students feel a sense of pride and accomplishment knowing that their work and learning will be shared with authentic audiences beyond the classroom. Exhibition Evening forms yet another opportunity for students to connect with and see the value of what they are learning. Opportunities to display and share their work are a very important part of the process and forms an integral part of the culture and community of Living Faith.

What is the role of parents and Carers at Exhibition Evening?

Exhibition Evening is about the process, not just the product. As you explore the amazing projects on display, we encourage you to ask deep questions. Try to engage beyond the visible product and connect with what learning the product might represent.

At the entrance to each year level, we will provide a keepsake postcard explaining the projects on display. It will suggest several questions that you could ask students in order to connect and share in their learning experiences. These interactions reaffirm the importance of a growth mindset and help students see their accomplishments through new eyes. Remember to celebrate the failures, mistakes, perseverance and frustrations, as well as the successes that have formed their learning journey. It is through the grapple and struggles that the best and most meaningful learning happens.

This semester our students have learnt so much more about themselves than could ever be displayed on a pinboard. We can’t wait to see you all on the night and to share this journey with you.

Exhibition Evening will be held next week on Wednesday the 22nd of June from 5-6:30pm.
