Designing Our Values - A Student-Led Creative Journey

Student Speak Thursday, 05 Feb 2026

This year, six students from Living Faith had an exciting opportunity to bring our school values to life in a creative and meaningful way.

After winning the ‘Design a Values Character Competition’, Athena, Eloise, Evie, Lucas, Mikayla and Raaven were invited to take part in a series of design workshops with professional graphic artist Megan Hill.

The students met together in the boardroom for several sessions, where they learned how ideas are transformed into visual designs. With Megan’s guidance, they explored colour choices, shapes and symbols, while also learning about the basics of graphic design. The students shared ideas, discussed options and worked together to make decisions, experiencing what it is like to collaborate as a real design team.

Through this process, the group co-designed six brand new Values characters that reflect what Living Faith stands for. These values are:

  • Be Curious
  • Be the Change
  • Better Together
  • Dare to Dream
  • Fail Forward
  • Lead with Love

Each character represents not only the value it stands for, but also the creativity, teamwork and confidence of the students involved in the project.

To celebrate the launch of the new Values characters at the end of last year, they were hidden around the school for students to find. This created excitement and curiosity as classes searched the school grounds and discovered each character. It was a fun and engaging way to introduce the new designs and encourage everyone to think about how the values connect to everyday school life.

We are extremely proud of Athena, Eloise, Evie, Lucas, Mikayla and Raaven for their commitment, creativity and teamwork throughout this project. We also thank Megan Hill for sharing her expertise and supporting our students through the design process.

We are very excited to launch the student co-created Values characters this year and embed them in all that we do at Living Faith.
