Grow your God colours!

Last week the Living Faith theme for 2024 was unveiled to all staff as ‘Growing Your God Colours’. I am really hoping that our theme for the year will be embraced by everyone in our community -
parents, students, staff and members of our supporting church.

In this devotion, I will explore what our theme, ‘Growing Your God Colours’, might mean for our Living Faith community during 2024.

‘You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.’

— Matthew 5:13-16

Grow

These words from Matthew are an encouragement or a ‘call to arms’ as a community of educators, administrators, support staff, students and families to grow ourselves. The staff and parents at Living Faith partner together in the sacred task of nurturing growth in our students and children. Last week the staff at Living Faith reminded ourselves of our calling in that we are entrusted to grow ourselves and our colleagues. The Living Faith staff are committed to being in a season of continuous learning, both professionally and personally, as we encourage one another to reach new heights.

Light Up

‘Every child matters’ at Living Faith and as we plan for the year ahead we purposefully and intentionally strive to enable each student the opportunity to have their ‘God colours’ shine brightly. My prayer is that our school is a beacon of hope and transformation. Let us nourish the minds and hearts of our students, cultivating an environment where they can flourish in their unique God-given colours and giftings. As educators, we have the privilege of modelling the love, hope and grace generously given to us by the Father. Let our actions be a reflection of His light.

Smile

‘Smile. Be the Light in the darkness for our students.’ A simple smile can brighten even the darkest of days. As we interact with our students, let us remember the impact of a warm and encouraging smile. In doing so, we become a tangible expression of God's love, bringing light to the lives of those we serve.

Serve

As we live out our school mission and vision and ‘ignite service’ we are reminded that our calling to serve our community extends beyond the classroom walls. Let us actively seek opportunities to serve our community, especially those in challenging circumstances. By embodying the love of Christ in our actions, we become instruments of His grace in the lives of others.

Sing

‘Sing. Sing to the Lord a new song in 2024. Be blessed.’ Finally, let our hearts overflow with gratitude and praise for the generosity that is given to us so freely from our Father.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the generous gifts that you have bestowed upon the Living Faith community. May our staff and families partner together to Grow our God Colours in 2024.

Peace
Andrew
