This review is not simply about deciding which devices students should use. It is an opportunity to carefully consider how technology can best support learning, teaching, communication and the future direction of Living Faith. As we continue to grow and prepare for our transition to expansion into a secondary college, it is important that our approach to technology is sustainable, secure, purposeful and aligned with our vision for learning.

Two key strategic objectives will guide this work.

Strategic Objective 1: Device Deployment

We will develop a sustainable, secure and future-focused technology infrastructure and device deployment strategy that supports the operational, educational and strategic needs of our learners and School. 

Strategic Objective 2: Teaching and Learning

We will develop a clear pedagogical framework that defines how digital technologies are used to enhance teaching, deepen student learning and support our vision for purposeful, contemporary education.

As always, our decision-making will be informed by the latest international research and evidence relating to the use of digital technologies in schools. We recognise that there are important and ongoing conversations around screen time, student wellbeing, digital distraction and the impact of technology on learning. Our review will therefore seek to move beyond assumptions or trends and carefully consider what the research tells us about when, how and why technology can have the greatest positive impact on student learning and development. 

At the heart of this review will be an important question: How can technology genuinely make learning better? Our staff has already been wrestling with this question on the back of a professional learning session we recently had during our June PD Week which was led by Louka Parry. Louka Parry is an education futurist, learning and leadership strategist and he presented a session for staff on being ‘Future Ready’. While digital tools can provide exciting opportunities, we also recognise that technology should never be used simply for technology's sake. Our approach must be intentional and balanced, ensuring that digital technologies enhance strong teaching practices, meaningful relationships, creativity, critical thinking and deep learning. 

Our ICT Review will help us develop a clear and consistent approach for the future, one that ensures our students are equipped with the knowledge, skills and dispositions they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
