The development of our new uniform has been a careful and considered process spanning more than two years. We have sought to ensure that our new uniform retains the important elements of our existing identity while providing a contemporary, practical and cohesive uniform for students from Prep through to Year 12.

A uniform shaped by our community 

The process began in late 2024 with a whole-school uniform survey, inviting parents and carers, staff and students in Years 4–6 to share their thoughts, experiences and ideas about our existing uniform.

The feedback from this survey was presented to School Council and informed the development of a formal Terms of Reference for the Uniform Review Committee.

The Uniform Review Committee was subsequently established and has met regularly for the past 15 months. The committee has included both staff and parent representatives, ensuring that a broad range of perspectives has contributed to the development of the new uniform.

In reviewing the uniform, the committee considered:

• the important and recognisable elements of our existing uniform that should be retained;
• how our uniform reflects our identity, values and philosophy;
• the age and gender appropriateness of uniform items;
• the development of practical, non-gendered uniform options;
• the structure of the uniform across a Prep–Year 12 College;
• comfort, breathability and suitability for the Queensland climate;
• durability, quality, washability and ease of care;
• sun safety and student wellbeing; and
• affordability and value for families.

A new uniform for a new chapter

The result is a new Living Faith uniform that we believe will provide a strong sense of identity and belonging across our future K–12 College, while also being practical and very comfortable for students.

Importantly, the new uniform will be introduced progressively rather than requiring all families to replace their existing uniforms in the short term. This approach is intended to provide families with a manageable transition and to minimise unnecessary expense, and assist families with the current cost of living pressures faced.

New Uniform Provider – P&C Uniforms

Following an extensive review of uniform suppliers, the Uniform Review Committee recommended that P&C Uniforms be appointed as Living Faith's new uniform provider. This recommendation has been endorsed by School Council.

We are currently finalising the arrangements with P&C Uniforms and preparing for the transition from our existing provider, School Locker.

As part of this transition, we are also working through the remaining stock currently held by School Locker. Where possible, we will make existing uniform stock available for families to purchase directly from the school. Further information about our onsite uniform shop will be communicated to families once arrangements have been finalised in the coming weeks.

Smart Play Uniform to Replace Traditional Sports Uniform

From 2028, the school will introduce a new smart play uniform, which will replace the current sports uniform. The smart play uniform will consist of comfortable, practical activewear garments designed to support students participating in physical activity and other learning experiences where a more active style of dress is appropriate.

The introduction of the smart play uniform will also simplify the uniform requirements for our younger students.

Prep to Year 3

From 2028, Prep to Year 3 students will wear the smart play uniform every day. This means these students will no longer need to have both a formal uniform and a sports uniform. The smart play uniform will become their everyday school uniform.

Years 4 to 6

Students in Years 4 to 6 will continue to have both a formal uniform and smart play uniform.

The specific days on which each uniform is worn will be communicated to families as part of the implementation of the new uniform arrangements.

Importantly, these changes will commence from 2028 and will not apply to the 2027 school year, with the exception of Prep and Year 7 students.

Years 7 to 12

Students in Years 7 to 12 will have two uniform categories: the formal uniform and the sports uniform.

For students in Years 7 to 12, the garments that form part of the smart play range will be referred to as the sports uniform. This reflects the terminology traditionally used for secondary students and recognises that these garments are designed to support students in physical activity, practical learning and sporting activities.

The formal uniform and sports uniform will be worn throughout the school week, with the specific requirements communicated to families as part of the implementation of the new uniform arrangements. The sports uniform may be required on days when students participate in Physical Education, the Sports Academy, practical or active subjects, sporting activities or other learning experiences where a more active style of dress is appropriate.

While the terminology differs between the Primary and Secondary years, the smart play garments form part of the same contemporary uniform approach across the College.

2027 Transition Arrangement - Prep and Year 7

As part of the transition to the new smart play uniform, Prep and Year 7 students commencing in 2027 will wear the smart play uniform five days per week.

This is a transitional arrangement recognising that families of new Prep and Year 7 students will be purchasing a new school uniform for the 2027 school year. Students in Prep and Year 7 will be able to purchase and wear the new smart play uniform as their everyday uniform.

This arrangement will also provide an opportunity for the school to introduce the smart play uniform with our youngest students and our inaugural Year 7 cohort ahead of its full implementation across the school in 2028.

Students in other year levels in 2027 will continue to follow the existing uniform arrangements. Further information regarding uniform requirements, including the smart play uniform, will be provided to families ahead of the 2027 school year.

We are excited about what this new uniform represents - not simply a change in what our students wear, but a visible expression of the new chapter we are beginning together as Living Faith Lutheran College.
