New Sports Academy and Performing Arts Academy to Launch in 2027
One of the most exciting announcements shared with families at our recent Secondary Launch Information Evening was the launch of the Living Faith Sports Academy and Living Faith Performing Arts Academy in 2027.
These academies represent an important next step in our vision for Secondary School and reflect our commitment to developing the whole child. At Living Faith, we believe that learning extends beyond the classroom and that students flourish when they are given opportunities to discover and develop their God-given gifts, talents and passions.
For many years, our students have excelled in the performing arts, and recently the school has strategically grown our sports program with the introduction of NISSA Sports in 2024; the increased sports offerings in our extra curricular program; and the introduction of Monday Afternoon Sport, Prep to Year 3, and Friday Afternoon Sport, for students in Year 4 to 6. These additional sports offerings enrich our specialist sports program overseen by Mr Tim Gregory. From our highly regarded Performing Arts productions and showcases to the strong sporting culture that exists across the School, these areas have become recognised strengths of our school community. The introduction of dedicated academies allows us to build on this success and provide students with more structured pathways to pursue their interests at a deeper level.
The Sports Academy
The Sports Academy will provide opportunities for students to refine their skills, develop tactical understanding, build leadership capabilities and engage with age-appropriate sport science principles. Initial offerings for 2027 will include tennis, kayaking, soccer, and strength and conditioning, with programs aligned to school competitions and local sporting pathways.
The Performing Arts Academy
The Performing Arts Academy will offer students opportunities to develop their technique, creativity and performance skills through dance, drama and music. Students will be able to choose from Hip Hop, Jazz, Musical Theatre or Year 7 Band, participating in experiences designed to build confidence, stagecraft and artistic expression.
A Flexible Model
A unique feature of the academy model is its flexibility. Running as part of the regular school timetable every Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, students will have the opportunity to specialise in a single area across both sessions or combine pathways that reflect their individual interests. For example, a student may choose to participate in a sporting discipline on one afternoon and a performing arts discipline on the other.
Importantly, the academies will be inclusive and accessible, ensuring every student has the opportunity to engage in meaningful experiences that support their personal growth and wellbeing. Programs will be delivered by our talented staff alongside external coaches and industry professionals who will bring specialised expertise and real-world experience to the learning environment.
Academy Offerings to Expand Over Time
While the initial offerings have been carefully selected for the commencement of Secondary School in 2027, the academies will continue to expand as student interest grows, enrolments increase and new facilities are developed.
We are excited about the possibilities these academies will create for our students and look forward to sharing further details with families throughout the year. Students will have the opportunity to nominate their preferred Sports and Performing Arts Academy pathways at our Secondary Expo in Term 3, helping us shape these programs as we prepare for an exciting new chapter in 2027.
Peace
