New Spaces for Learning and Growing in Year 5
This term, our Year 5 students have stepped into their newly refurbished classrooms, and the excitement has been evident from the moment they walked through the doors.
These refreshed learning spaces have been thoughtfully designed to support collaboration, creativity and wellbeing, bringing our vision for learning to life in a tangible way.
The classrooms have been opened up to create light, spacious environments that allow for movement and flexibility throughout the day. Breakout rooms have been added to provide quiet spaces for reflection and focused work, while new maker space zones invite students to engage in hands-on learning, problem solving and creative exploration. It is a much needed refresh that aligns beautifully with the way our students learn best.
Students have already begun to make the most of these new spaces, particularly through activities such as coding Sphero robots in Maths and preparing for upcoming collaborative projects like the Hub Market.
Our Year 5 students have been reflecting on their experience in the new classrooms.
The new spaces are comfy and fresh. They are much quieter and we have a lot more room to move and do all our hands-on activities like coding our Sphero robots for Maths. It is easier to do group work or to find a quiet space to work independently.

It has been so nice starting this term in our new learning spaces. They are so open and you have room to be yourself and find your own space to do your best work. I really like the quiet breakout rooms at the end. The new spaces will make Hub Market next term so much easier because we will have space for groups to work and zones where we can have team meetings or even get creative.

There are so many things I love about the new classrooms. I love the new furniture, especially the new big stadium and the big glass doors. It makes it feel light and airy. You can work either inside or maybe even outside. There are a lot more options about where and how you can do your work.
— Calvin
It was a great move. We feel so special now that we have a brand new space with new furniture. It is cool to be the first kids to be able to use these classrooms ever. The stadium is huge and we can all fit so we can do lots of group work.
— Zoe
I like the feeling of the new classrooms. They are so comfy and easy to get my work done. They are quiet and better for wellbeing, there is more space for us to do our Sphero Maths. I really like the maker space area because it will help us be even more creative.
— Xavier
These new learning spaces are more than just upgraded classrooms. They are environments that encourage students to collaborate, create and take ownership of their learning.
We are also excited to share that our Year 4 classrooms are now undergoing renovation, creating similar spaces that support greater collaboration and align with our vision and philosophy for learning.
