Exciting News: A New Junior Primary Playground is Coming!

Principals Pen Thursday, 31 July 2025

It is with great joy and anticipation that I share some exciting news with our Living Faith community. Our School Council has made the decision to invest in the construction of a brand-new Junior Primary playground - a significant development that will enhance both learning and wellbeing for our youngest learners.

The new playground will be located in the current outdoor chapel space within the Junior Primary Precinct. In turn, the outdoor chapel will be thoughtfully relocated to a beautiful new area near Nature Play. This relocation will provide the opportunity to increase the chapel’s capacity, enabling it to host three classes (one full year level) at a time, making it a more functional and inclusive space for worship and reflection.

So, why a New Playground?

At Living Faith, we believe in the power of play-based learning - a cornerstone of our educational philosophy. Play is not simply a break from learning; it is learning. Through imaginative and physical play, children develop their cognitive abilities, social skills, emotional regulation, creativity and resilience. A thoughtfully designed playground supports:

  • Physical development through climbing, balancing, running and coordination;
  • Social learning as children negotiate rules, solve problems together and develop empathy;
  • Imaginative play which fosters storytelling, role play and creativity;
  • Cognitive engagement through exploratory and sensory experiences; and
  • Emotional wellbeing as children experience joy, agency and connection.

Our new Junior Primary playground will be a space designed with purpose, where learning, discovery and joy intersect daily. Importantly, our students will have the opportunity to share their ideas and dreams for what this space could look like. Their voice matters - and we are excited to ensure their ideas are reflected in a space they will grow, play and thrive in.

While we do not yet have definitive dates for construction or completion, we are excited to confirm that the project will take place in 2026. We look forward to sharing updates and involving our community throughout this exciting journey.

Peace
