Contemporary Competencies
Building a toolkit for a meaningful life.
There's more to education than great grades.
Of course we want our students to achieve academically. But we also want them to leave Living Faith with the confidence to navigate uncertainty, the resilience to keep going when life gets hard and the wisdom to make a positive difference wherever they go.
That's why we're intentional about building more than knowledge. We're helping students develop a toolkit they'll carry with them long after they've left our classrooms.
Contemporary competencies are the ingredients for a life well lived. And so we intentionally teach them, nurture them and report on them just as deliberately as academic achievement.
We don't call them "soft skills" around here.
There’s nothing soft about knowing how to solve a complex problem, adapt when things don’t go to plan, work well with others or find the courage to keep going when something is hard.
These are capabilities young people will draw on at university, at work, in relationships and in life... long after they’ve forgotten what was on their Year 8 maths test.
That’s why we call them Contemporary Competencies and why we take them seriously.
At Living Faith, skills like creativity, collaboration, leadership, resilience and adaptability aren’t simply hoped for along the way. We intentionally develop them, give students opportunities to practise them, and report on their growth.
