Leadership is fostered throughout the school. Opportunities for student leadership exist informally and incidentally across all year levels. Year 6 students are provided with formal leadership opportunities.
A firmly embedded tradition and highlight for our Year 6 students is the rapport they build with their allocated Prep buddy. Each Year 6 child builds a meaningful and supportive relationship with a Prep student. History shows that this relationship will often continue into the children’s adult years.
Two girls and two boys are elected to serve as school captains each year. Their responsibilities are vast, and include role modelling, attending formal functions, public speaking and representing the school.
SPORTS AND SWIMMING CAPTAINS
Year 6 students are invited to nominate as sports and swimming captains. These are highly-respected positions within the school community.
YEAR 6 LEADERSHIP TEAMS
Year 6 students undergo leadership training and then nominate to serve on one of 7 leadership teams, which operate for the duration of the school year. In 2016 the Year 6 Leadership Teams are: creative, environmental, library, mentoring, service, sports and worship.
