In 2016 Living Faith participated in the following projects:
APPLE TOWARDS TRANSFORMATION
Only eight schools have been selected and invited to participate in this program, designed and funded by Apple. A highly experience Apple educator connects with a group of teachers fortnightly to improve and innovate their maths program using technology as an educational tool.
Two experienced teachers are participating in a Lutheran Education Queensland (LEQ) project designed to develop their ability to lead and coach their peers in areas of interest and strength. Through this project, these teachers will grow in their ability to lead teams, identify the gifts of others, manage time effectively, evaluate and reflect on their performance, evaluate and reflect on the performance of their peers and have difficult conversations.
ISQ COACHING: LITERACY
One teacher is being trained as a coach by Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ) and will work with other teachers in the areas of spelling and grammar.
ISQ COACHING: NUMERACY
One teacher is being trained as a coach by Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ) and will work with other teachers in the area of numeracy. This coach has begun by undertaking a review of the language used throughout the school to teach numeracy and maths.
ISQ MENTORING: CULTURE AND PASTORAL CARE
One teacher is collaborating with Years 4, 5 and 6 teachers to develop programs within these year levels to support students pastorally and to develop positive class culture initiatives with flexible learning spaces in mind.
ISQ RESEARCHERS IN SCHOOLS: MAKERSPACES
A group of teachers are researching MakerSpaces, and will design and implement a MakerSpace within our school to develop our students’ creativity, engineering and design skills.
ISQ RESEARCHERS IN SCHOOLS: STEM
A group of teachers are continuing this project, which began in 2015. The project focusses on flipped learning in the Science and Maths classrooms. In 2015 the use of video tutorials to ‘flip’ the classroom improved Maths and Science learning and engagement. Further refinements are being researched and implemented this year.
ISQ SELF IMPROVING SCHOOLS
Self-Improving Schools is a flagship Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ) program that supports schools to develop and implement evidence-based strategies for continuous improvement.
