Growth mindset is a learning theory developed by Stanford University’s Dr Carol Dweck. It revolves around the idea that people can improve ability and performance through effort and hard work. The opposite, a fixed mindset, refers to the belief that a person’s abilities and talents are set in stone. Years of research have shown that mindset is malleable and that if a person develops a growth mindset, they can learn more effectively and efficiently. The ideas around Growth Mindset are woven into the learning experiences across the subjects at Living Faith as we build a culture that values effort, risk taking and learning from mistakes.
Growth Mindset Week occurs across the school in the first week of the year where students participate in learning activities designed to establish a growth mindset culture and positive relationships with their peers.
