In this Christian Prep setting, each individual child is a valued member of the group and is regarded as special and a gift from God.
The Educational program is designed to cater for the children's needs, their stages of development and interests in a "play" environment, which encourages them to self-select from a variety of planned and spontaneous indoor and outdoor learning activities. It is through play that children learn about themselves and their world. Prep children need space to move about, time to wonder and observe, freedom to experiment and create, and make choices in the materials and equipment they use.
Prep children also need adult support and encouragement to stimulate them, provide challenges to extend their knowledge and develop their skills.
The program is based on assisting the development of individual children through teacher knowledge, observation and records. The program is not rigidly set, but varies according to the children's needs, interests and abilities, and is extended and varied accordingly.
Group sessions such as short worship times and structured literacy and numeracy activities assist each child to learn appropriate and acceptable group behaviour and to feel a valued member of the group, able to share and cooperate in the learning experience. The specialist areas of Music, Physical Education and German begin in Prep. Prep children also attend school assemblies and worship.
Indoor and outdoor free play sessions encompass many areas of learning and provide opportunities to explore concepts in maths and science, develop language and social skills and gain in physical competency and problem-solving ability.
As prep children need routine to feel secure and settled, each day will run on a similar time-table (weather permitting) which allows for variety as well as flexibility with the children's needs acting guidepost.
Days & Hours Attendance : The program is five (5) days per week and follows the same term dates as other classes at Living Faith.
